PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Hawk (ranked 824 p4p, 776 weight class) and Manuel Silva (ranked 116 p4p, 112 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ethan Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manuel Silva!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Silva wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.
Silva throws an elbow that misses. Hawk uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Hawk!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva is trying to drag Hawk to the mat but Hawk just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Silva has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hawk clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Hawk rolls, trying to escape but Silva keeps control of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Hawk's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Silva is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Silva gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Silva gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Silva apologises and we restart here on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Hawk.
Hawk takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Silva shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ethan Hawk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hawk as he jumps to the side.

Silva looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hawk as he jumps to the side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lazy left from Silva finds it's target.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hawk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Hawk tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hawk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab from Silva does it's job there.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hawk takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Silva's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
