The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madzarov misses with an uppercut
and Madzarov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Vasko Madzarov has been cut.
Derrick Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomas throws a predictable looking body shot
and Madzarov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Thomas 's knee momentarily.
Thomas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thomas throws a lazy right hand but Madzarov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Thomas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Madzarov goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Thomas is looking to slow Madzarov down with leg kicks.
Thomas bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Madzarov's head.

and Madzarov counters with a crisp right hand that drops Thomas ! Madzarov lets Thomas back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Thomas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Madzarov throws a low kick, looking for Thomas 's leg but Thomas calmly moves out of range.
Thomas wants to clinch

and Madzarov counters with a nice right hand that sends Thomas toppling to the canvas! Thomas scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Madzarov finish him?!

and Madzarov counters with a huge left! Thomas is in big trouble! He's backing up but Madzarov isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Thomas from any more damage. A dominating finish by Madzarov!
