PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Orlude Spiritscar (ranked 3078 p4p, 5593 weight class) and Peter Vondig (ranked 181 p4p, 260 weight class). Spiritscar comes to the cage accompanied by Bodies-drowning pool. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orlude Spiritscar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Vondig !
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spiritscar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Vondig has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Spiritscar is on him like a limpet, forcing Vondig back against the cage.

Vondig drags the fight down to the ground.
Spiritscar wants to stand but Vondig is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spiritscar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vondig manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spiritscar has Vondig in his guard.

Vondig looking to sit in guard and control but Spiritscar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Spiritscar drops back looking for a leg! Vondig is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vondig manages to kick Spiritscar off! Spiritscar jumps back into Vondig 's guard.

Spiritscar decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Vondig , up you get!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vondig throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spiritscar tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Vondig is in Spiritscar's guard.

Spiritscar pulls Vondig in to control the position.
Spiritscar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Spiritscar seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Vondig looking to sit in guard and control but Spiritscar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Spiritscar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vondig dives on top into guard.

Spiritscar is pulling down on Vondig 's head. It's preventing any offense from Vondig , at least for the moment.

Spiritscar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vondig doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vondig manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vondig is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vondig trying to move into half guard but instead Spiritscar has managed to sweep!


Spiritscar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Spiritscar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Spiritscar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Vondig explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Spiritscar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Spiritscar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Spiritscar stands up.

Vondig drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vondig wants to control from the top but Spiritscar keeps moving.
Spiritscar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peter Vondig will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Vondig has Spiritscar up against the cage in a clinch.
Spiritscar with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Vondig works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vondig must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vondig is breathing heavily.
Spiritscar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Vondig is looking to control Spiritscar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vondig avoid being mounted?

Spiritscar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Spiritscar maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Vondig could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Spiritscar has cracked it and Vondig is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Spiritscar!

Orlude Spiritscar was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
