PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Orlude Spiritscar (ranked 5075 p4p, 4159 weight class) and Peter Vondig (ranked 245 p4p, 217 weight class). Spiritscar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bodies-drowning pool. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vondig throws a right and a left that Spiritscar avoids nicely.
Spiritscar dives in and grabs Vondig 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vondig pushes down on Spiritscar's head and hops out.

Vondig closes the distance and pushes Spiritscar back into the cage.
Vondig misses with a knee to the head.

Vondig pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spiritscar advances position into side control!
Vondig really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spiritscar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Spiritscar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vondig is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Spiritscar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spiritscar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vondig wants to get back to his feet but Spiritscar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Spiritscar has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vondig is proving hard to escape from.

Vondig is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Spiritscar defends well.

Spiritscar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Spiritscar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Spiritscar gets to his feet - Vondig follows without any prompting.
Vondig stuffs the takedown attempt from Spiritscar. Spiritscar gets slowly back to his feet.
Vondig changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vondig feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vondig throws a strike but Spiritscar rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Vondig has a closed guard, preventing Spiritscar from standing up.

Spiritscar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vondig has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spiritscar has managed to get both his arms back between Vondig 's legs - danger averted.

Spiritscar goes for a double leg but Vondig avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vondig continues to drive forward.

Spiritscar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vondig manages to avoid it.
Vondig tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Spiritscar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vondig sprawls well. Vondig wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Spiritscar gets slowly back to his feet.

Spiritscar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Vondig has his hands clasped together but Spiritscar extends and breaks Vondig 's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Spiritscar.
