PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hin Areni (ranked 1544 p4p, 1865 weight class) and Rikiya Goromaru (ranked 156 p4p, 188 weight class). Areni kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mosaique. Hin Areni has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Areni rushes Goromaru and presses him up against the cage.

Areni is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Goromaru can't fight it off and eventually Areni manages to take the fight to the floor. Goromaru looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Areni trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Areni looking to sit in guard and control but Goromaru gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Areni is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Areni prevents Goromaru from improving his position.
Areni trying to control from half guard but Goromaru is working away.
Goromaru is looking for a sweep. Areni is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Areni thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Areni sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Goromaru defending well though.
Areni throwing shots but Goromaru is blocking nicely.
Areni has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Areni is keen to just control but Goromaru is a slippery customer.
Areni is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Goromaru is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Goromaru has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Areni is working away from the top position though.
Goromaru is refusing to be controlled, as Areni sits in half guard.
Areni throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Goromaru blocking the ground and pound attempt from Areni.
Goromaru avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Areni.

Areni sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Goromaru defending well though.
Areni looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Areni works his way into side control.
Areni scores with punches from side control.
Areni wants to control but Goromaru is keeping him busy.

Areni sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Goromaru is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Areni has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Areni wants to control the pace but Goromaru is squirming around nicely.
Areni throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Goromaru because Areni loaded up on that one.
Areni can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Goromaru is looking to escape.

Areni fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Goromaru takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Areni's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hin Areni!
Hin Areni spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
