Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Manny Tavares!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cooper Roos!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
A nice leg kick lands there from Tavares.
Roos tests Tavares's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Manny Tavares has been cut.
Tavares connects with an inside leg kick.
Tavares rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Roos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tavares checks a leg kick nicely.
Tavares swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tavares lands with an uppercut that bounces Roos off the cage and back into range.
Tavares throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

and Roos counters with a nice leg kick.
Roos throws a low kick but Tavares moves out of range easily.
Tavares is looking to counter punch.
Tavares scores with a jab to the head.
Tavares lands a nice shot to the body.
Roos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tavares.

Roos lands a big head kick that sends Tavares tumbling to the mat! Roos takes a step backwards and waves Tavares back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tavares takes a swing at Roos's ribcage but misses.
Roos swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Tavares looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Roos needs to keep his hands up - Tavares had a free shot at his head there.
Tavares misses with a right hand
and Tavares takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Roos thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tavares if he has to take too many more of those.
Tavares lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Tavares throws a hook to the side of Roos's head but Roos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Tavares on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Roos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tavares.
Tavares scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Roos avoids a kick to the body.
Tavares rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Roos counters with a stiff right hand.

Roos misses with an uppercut. Tavares saw that one coming.
Tavares swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Tavares misses with a wild body shot.
It seemed like Roos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Roos throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A jab from Roos finds it's way through Tavares's defenses.

Manny Tavares's cut is getting worse.
Roos scores with a jab to the head.
Roos throws a sloppy head kick and Tavares moves out of range easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cooper Roos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Manny Tavares's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Tavares ducks right into an uppercut from Roos.
Roos throws a leg kick
enabling Tavares to counter with a crisp jab.
Tavares has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Tavares fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Roos on the side of the head.
Roos thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tavares if he has to take too many more of those.
Tavares misses with an uppercut

and Roos counters with a crisp right hand that drops Tavares! Roos lets Tavares back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Tavares is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Roos fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Tavares square on the jaw! Damn, Tavares is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cooper Roos!
Cooper Roos is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Cooper Roos thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
