Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joey Williams!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Santos makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Santos shoots in and drives through. Williams sprawls well.
Williams dives in and grabs Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.
Santos looks to land a body kick but Williams moved away.
Williams fails with the takedown.
Miguel Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Williams.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Williams.
Santos wants to get back to his feet but Williams is dominant here and he's now got Santos's back!
Williams is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Santos with him. Santos is trying to defend but Williams has an arm under the chin now! Santos grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joey Williams!
A relieved looking Joey Williams thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
