PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Camacho (ranked 1049 p4p, 1259 weight class) and Bruce Chang (ranked 147 p4p, 174 weight class). Bruce Chang told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jermaine Camacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce Chang!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chang throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Camacho shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Camacho was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Camacho lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Chang down.
Camacho tries to move into full mount but can't pass Chang's legs.
Chang tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Camacho wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Camacho goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chang has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Camacho but great work by Chang.
Camacho gets back to half guard.
Camacho is trying to maintain the position but Chang is very close to passing his half guard.
Camacho on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Camacho is looking for a sweep. Chang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chang trying to control the action but Camacho is working from the bottom.
Camacho tries to roll over but Chang keeps him under control.

Chang is looking for a kimura but Camacho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chang to get the leverage.

Camacho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chang pulls his head out easily.

Chang thows a huge punch but Camacho dodges it nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chang drops an elbow to the side of Camacho's head.

Chang is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Camacho has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Camacho is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Camacho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chang pulls his head out easily.
Camacho tries to roll over but Chang keeps him under control.

Chang seems to be working for a kimura but Camacho defends the submission attempt.
Camacho is looking to improve his position.
Camacho wants to control but Chang passes into side.
Chang tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Camacho is trying to get back to half guard.

Chang looks up at the clock and then as Camacho takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Chang smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Chang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Camacho keeps working.
Camacho is looking to regain half guard here but Chang keeps moving and retains side control.

Chang goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Camacho rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chang's guard! Nice work there by Camacho!
We've been hearing good reports from Camacho's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Camacho wants to control from the top but Chang keeps moving.
Chang is trying to control the position but Camacho postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Camacho trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Camacho with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Chang dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Camacho with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Chang to score with a decent uppercut.
Camacho misses with an uppercut. Chang saw that one coming.
Bruce Chang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Camacho fails to land the takedown.
Chang slips a straight right by Camacho.
Chang slips under a jab.
Chang tries a head kick but it misses.
Camacho tries a low kick but Chang avoids it.
We've been informed that Chang has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Camacho lands a big head kick that sends Chang tumbling to the mat! Camacho takes a step backwards and waves Chang back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Chang is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Camacho swats away the attempt to clinch by Chang.
Chang is still on wobbly legs! Can Camacho finish him?
Chang blocks a head kick by Camacho.
Camacho lands a brutal uppercut that launches Chang off his feet! Chang tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jermaine Camacho!
Jermaine Camacho took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
