PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kazuma Kuwabara (ranked 162 p4p, 497 weight class) and James Gregor (ranked 29 p4p, 77 weight class). Kuwabara comes to the cage accompanied by Kazuma Kuwabara Theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kazuma Kuwabara!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Gregor!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuwabara takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Gregor moves out of range of the strikes.
As Kuwabara backs off Gregor throws a huge counter combo but Kuwabara manages to avoid it all.
Kuwabara shoots in but Gregor avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kuwabara shoots in and bounces Gregor off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Kuwabara postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gregor is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kuwabara, into his guard.

Kuwabara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gregor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kuwabara has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gregor has managed to get both his arms back between Kuwabara's legs - danger averted.

Kuwabara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gregor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gregor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kuwabara will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kuwabara has his foot on Gregor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gregor works his way back into a safe position though.

Kuwabara is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gregor throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kuwabara's body to avoid the submission. Kuwabara has instead reached around Gregor's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kuwabara arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kazuma Kuwabara!
