Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Backman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Albert Sojka!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sojka swinging wildly here.
Albert Sojka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Backman tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Sojka fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Backman on the side of the head.
Sojka moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Backman slips under a jab.
Backman fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sojka checks it well.
Backman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Backman delivers a nice body kick.
Backman needs to keep his hands up - Sojka had a free shot at his head there.

and Backman counters with a shoot takedown. Sojka fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Backman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sojka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sojka can do anything to dispel that myth.
Backman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sojka down.
We've been hearing good reports from Backman's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Backman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Backman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Backman tries to control but Sojka wriggling away.
Sojka's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Sojka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Backman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Backman lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sojka looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Backman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sojka is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Backman connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Sojka to escape the position.
