The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McShane scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nurmagomedov wants to control but McShane is keeping busy.
McShane has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McShane wants to take his opponent's back but Nurmagomedov doesn't allow it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nurmagomedov is desperately trying to improve his position but McShane has a good base and remains in mount.
Nurmagomedov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Nurmagomedov is squirming around, avoiding McShane's attempts to control the action.

McShane looking for a guillotine from mount but Nurmagomedov is having none of it.

McShane goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Nurmagomedov turns into him and now he's in McShane's guard.
McShane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nurmagomedov manages to get himself to full guard.
