Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Erwin (ranked 1371 p4p, 1816 weight class) and David McDonald (ranked 192 p4p, 240 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derek Erwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald tries to move into range but Erwin moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Erwin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McDonald manages to avoid it.
Derek Erwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Erwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McDonald takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Erwin misses with a series of wild punches.

McDonald moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

McDonald throws a front kick aimed at Erwin's knee but Erwin avoids it well.
Erwin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McDonald winds up and cracks Erwin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
My spies in Ludus Magnus inform me that McDonald has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Erwin is trying to maintain the position but McDonald is very close to passing his half guard.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McDonald lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Erwin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Erwin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

McDonald lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Erwin hang on?

During a confident post fight interview, David McDonald thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Derek Erwin was interviewed post fight and said 'I didn't lose I just ran out of time'.
