Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Steve (ranked 31 p4p, 392 weight class) and Artie DeVanzo (ranked 5 p4p, 59 weight class). DeVanzo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Renée & Renato - Save Your Love. Chris Steve has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Steve!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 24 - 1, fighting out of New York, Artie DeVanzo!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVanzo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Steve counters with a good, hard body kick but DeVanzo shrugs it off.

Steve moves into the clinch.
Steve lands a hook to the side of the head.
Steve tries to throw a body punch but DeVanzo avoids it by throwing Steve back against the cage.
Steve tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Steve lands a damaging elbow.
Steve doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Steve lands an elbow inside that DeVanzo shrugs off.
Steve lands with a right to the head.
Steve misses with a punch to the body.
DeVanzo has a couple of punches blocked by Steve.
DeVanzo scores with a shoulder strike.
Steve misses with a short punch on the inside.
Steve lands a hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steve misses with some punches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Steve creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Steve lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Steve has a couple of punches blocked by DeVanzo.

DeVanzo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Steve is trying to control the position but DeVanzo postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeVanzo wants to control from the top but Steve keeps moving.

DeVanzo is looking to take a break and control but Steve is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Steve is concentrating on defense, preventing DeVanzo from advancing position.
DeVanzo wants to take a breather but Steve is having none of it.
DeVanzo with the ground and pound but Steve uses the opportunity to regain guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Steve looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Steve keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Steve thinks about countering with a body kick.
Steve tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DeVanzo was well out of range. Poor timing from Steve.
DeVanzo tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Steve takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

It looks like Chris Steve has been cut.

Steve has DeVanzo up against the cage in a clinch.

Steve lands an elbow just above DeVanzo 's eye.
Steve comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Artie DeVanzo has been cut.
Steve stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Steve lands with a left to the head.
Steve misses with a punch on the inside.
Steve pushes DeVanzo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Steve dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A solid body kick from Steve.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Steve here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Steve uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by DeVanzo.
An attempted straight right counter from Steve misses the target.
A decent looking cross lands there for DeVanzo.
DeVanzo throws a lazy uppercut
and Steve connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Steve enables DeVanzo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Steve manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
DeVanzo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

DeVanzo is desperately trying to improve his position but Steve has a good base and remains in mount.
DeVanzo wants to control but Steve is having none of it.
DeVanzo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

DeVanzo connects with a jab.
Steve seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Steve lands a nice leg kick that just misses DeVanzo's sensitive parts.
DeVanzo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Steve doesn't seem bothered though.

Steve fires out a quick counter leg kick but DeVanzo just manages to avoid it.
Artie DeVanzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

DeVanzo has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Steve's hands are dropping dangerously low here and DeVanzo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Steve scrambles back to his feet.

Steve fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt DeVanzo.

Steve doesn't manage to clinch there - DeVanzo circles away.

and Steve makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
DeVanzo misses with a hook. Steve ducked under it nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Steve quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Steve takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

DeVanzo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steve manages to avoid it.

Steve keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chris Steve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artie DeVanzo.
DeVanzo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Steve lands a slapping body shot.
Steve lands a jab.
DeVanzo jabbing away but nothing is landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steve scores with a nice head shot.

DeVanzo is rocked!

DeVanzo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Steve. Steve circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close third round but Artie DeVanzo just about did enough to take it.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

DeVanzo gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Steve gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Steve!

A very excited looking Chris Steve made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
