The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Covington scores with a takedown into Stevenson's guard.
Covington trying to control but Stevenson is working from the bottom.
Stevenson looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevenson, not yet.
Our spies down at at Outlier Martial Arts inform us that Stevenson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Covington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Covington tries to free his leg and advance position but Stevenson is retaining full guard.
Covington wants to control from the top but Stevenson keeps moving.
Stevenson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Covington. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Covington looking to pass the guard.
Stevenson keeping moving, preventing Covington from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Covington is really struggling to control Stevenson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Covington is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Stevenson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Good shot there by Covington.
Covington tries for a takedown but Stevenson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Covington tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stevenson defends well and Covington ends up having to push Stevenson into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Stevenson pulls guard.
Stevenson is trying to keep Covington in close.
Covington slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Covington seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stevenson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Covington perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Covington trying to control the action but Stevenson is working from the bottom.

Covington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Covington is keen to just control but Stevenson is a slippery customer.
Stevenson is looking for a sweep. Covington is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Covington working over Stevenson with some ground and pound. Stevenson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Covington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Covington is pressing down on Stevenson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stevenson is holding on for now.
Covington uses his free foot to push down on Stevenson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stevenson.
Covington trying to control but Stevenson is having none of it.
Covington is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stevenson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Covington looking to isolate an arm here. Stevenson doesn't see it coming and as Covington extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Covington!
