Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jallu Pesonen (ranked 265 p4p, 180 weight class) and Iker Ramirez (ranked 35 p4p, 23 weight class). Pesonen comes to the cage accompanied by DJ Orkidea - Joutsenlaulu. Ramirez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: El Jarabe Tapatio. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pesonen tries to clinch there but Ramirez circles away.
Pesonen throws a front kick aimed at Ramirez's knee but Ramirez avoids it well.
A chopping leg kick lands by Ramirez.
We've been hearing reports that Pesonen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ramirez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Ramirez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Pesonen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ramirez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ramirez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It seemed like Ramirez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Iker Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramirez feints and then cracks Pesonen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pesonen down.

Pesonen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pesonen is taking a breather. Ramirez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Pesonen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ramirez defends it well.

Ramirez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ramirez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pesonen. That did some damage!
Pesonen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ramirez.
It looked like Pesonen was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ramirez.
Pesonen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Pesonen looks to land a body kick but Ramirez moved away.
Ramirez is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Pesonen had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Ramirez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pesonen moves away.
Pesonen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ramirez connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pesonen. Pesonen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Pesonen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ramirez just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ramirez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pesonen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ramirez to the mat. Ramirez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Pesonen tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramirez is retaining full guard.

Pesonen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramirez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pesonen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pesonen is standing up over Ramirez. Ramirez looks to escape but Pesonen dives into side control.

Ramirez wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Pesonen seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Ramirez is tapping! Wow, great finish!

In his post fight interview, Jallu Pesonen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
