Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carter Ortiz (ranked 1180 p4p, 2903 weight class) and Rick Segura (ranked 172 p4p, 385 weight class). Segura is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 2 Bears 1 Cave Intro. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Segura instigates a clinch.
Ortiz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Segura.

Segura turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Segura manages to end up in side control.

Ortiz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Segura's guard.

Ortiz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Segura defends it easily.

Segura is working Ortiz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Segura shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Segura was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Segura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ortiz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Segura is nestled in close to Ortiz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Segura has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
