Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edison Atunes (ranked 11 p4p, 30 weight class) and Serhey Rishkinov (ranked 3 p4p, 6 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Serhey Rishkinov!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rishkinov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Atunes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Serhey Rishkinov has been cut.
Atunes throws a head kick but Rishkinov moves out of range.
Rishkinov tries to clinch
enabling Atunes to counter with a crisp jab.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rishkinov has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Atunes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Atunes is pressed up against the cage. Rishkinov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Atunes down to the mat. Atunes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Atunes can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Rishkinov moves in looking to clinch but Atunes pushes him off.

Rishkinov lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Atunes backs up against the cage.
Rishkinov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

That has opened up Serhey Rishkinov's cut even more.
Rishkinov takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Atunes cracks Rishkinov with a hook to the temple - Rishkinov is on wobbly legs here! Atunes swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Rishkinov falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Atunes wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Edison Atunes!
Edison Atunes retains his middleweight title!
Post fight, Edison Atunes took to the microphone: 'Smoked weed before this fight I was that confident.'.
