Arones comes to the cage accompanied by Lonely is the night. Ko Nachi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Echoing Thunder. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ko Nachi.

and Ko Nachi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Arones's knee momentarily.
Ko Nachi scores with a jab.
Ko Nachi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ko Nachi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Arones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Ko Nachi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Arones is on him like a limpet, forcing Ko Nachi back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Arones was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

It seemed like Ko Nachi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Arones digs a right hand into Ko Nachi's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Ko Nachi's gas tank.

Arones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rigel Ko Nachi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ko Nachi throws a head kick but Arones moves out of range.
Arones wants to clinch up but Ko Nachi keeps it at a distance.
Arones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ko Nachi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ko Nachi throws a combination. Arones tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Arones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ko Nachi.
Arones feinted with a counter takedown.
Arones swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Ko Nachi to counter with a crisp jab.
Rigel Ko Nachi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ko Nachi counters with a straight right hand.

Ko Nachi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
