PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jingky Bacolod (ranked 3994 p4p, 23581 weight class) and Maris Lakis (ranked 409 p4p, 615 weight class). Bacolod comes to the cage accompanied by Havana. On his way into the cage it seems that Jingky Bacolod has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jingky Bacolod seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bacolod stuffs the takedown attempt from Lakis. Lakis gets slowly back to his feet.
Lakis shoots in but Bacolod avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bacolod fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lakis sprawls well initially but Bacolod persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bacolod enables Lakis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bacolod manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bacolod has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lakis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lakis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Bacolod's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bacolod turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bacolod manages to end up in side control.

Bacolod tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bacolod has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bacolod leaves Lakis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lakis fails with the takedown

Bacolod has Lakis pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Lakis is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Bacolod - that's hurt Lakis badly! Oh, another knee lands and Lakis is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Lakis doesn't seem to be complaining.
