Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edison Atunes (ranked 44 p4p, 140 weight class) and Pate Parret (ranked 7 p4p, 23 weight class). Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Parret takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Atunes moves out of range as Parret strikes.
Parret misses with a looping right.
And Atunes counters with a quick kick to the body but Parret blocks it.
Atunes on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

and Atunes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Parret lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Parret takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Atunes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Atunes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Parret has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Parret throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It seemed like Parret was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Atunes might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Parret has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Parret throws an off balance right hand
and Atunes makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Parret really felt that one!

Atunes feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Parret sprawling to the canvas! Parret rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Atunes finish him?!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Parret is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Atunes Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Parret is out cold, face down on the mat!
