Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Armad Bates (ranked 1725 p4p, 215 weight class) and Alan Spence (ranked 2085 p4p, 257 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Armad Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Spence !
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Spence blocks the leg kick.
Bates shoots in for a takedown but Spence shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bates fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Spence looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Spence dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Spence moves out of range as Bates strikes.
Spence misses with a jab, cross combination.
Spence ducks under a wild hook from Bates.
Spence is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Bates with a body shot.

Spence moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Spence is looking to reverse the position.

Bates working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bates swings around for an armbar but Spence sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bates's guard.
Bates is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
