Menendez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal in the buildup to the fight.

Menendez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Menendez has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Versu.

Kovacs throws a hook but Soares blocks it.
Soares shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kovacs but Kovacs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Soares lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

enabling Soares to counter with a crisp jab.
Kovacs lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kovacs wants to clinch up but Soares keeps it at a distance.
Kovacs stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Soares misses with a left hand
and Kovacs counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gilbervan Soares dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kovacs, as that shot connected.
Soares is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kovacs can do to turn this around?

Oooh a lovely combination from Soares sends Kovacs down but not out. Soares dives into side control looking to finish.

Soares lands a strong strike to the head of Kovacs. That's dazed him! Soares looking to finish here. Kovacs is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Soares lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
