Takumi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Boyington lands a big head kick that sends Takumi tumbling to the mat! Boyington takes a step backwards and waves Takumi back to his feet - he wants the finish!

This has been an exciting period of action!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Takumi crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Boyington - the referee stops the clock and Takumi gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Boyington. Takumi manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Shanikov tries to close the distance and clinch but Nitro swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nitro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shanikov moves away.
Shanikov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nitro.
Nitro throws a body shot but no joy.
Nitro connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Shanikov tries to close the distance and clinch but Nitro swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nitro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Shanikov back to the cage. Nitro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McDonald throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McDonald lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Zoldyck moves out of range as McDonald strikes.

Zoldyck shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McDonald manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

McDonald is looking for a triangle but Zoldyck pushes his legs off easily.

McDonald is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McDonald has his foot on Zoldyck's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zoldyck works his way back into a safe position though.

We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
