We've been informed that Dux has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Potter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Potter lands in his opponent's guard.
Potter stands and throws Coleman's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Potter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Coleman to see if he's OK.
Coleman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Potter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Potter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coleman, who protects the arm well.

The referee asks Potter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Potter prefers to stall for the moment though.

Coleman is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Coleman is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Potter couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Lafayette slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lafayette lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Halo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Halo is rocked!
Lafayette cracks Halo on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Halo falls backwards against the cage. Lafayette follows up with more strikes that drop Halo to his knees. Lafayette keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Halo! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 5, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vicente Lafayette!
Vicente Lafayette is the new welterweight champion!
Vicente Lafayette decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
