The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grossweiner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Grossweiner throws a head kick but Denis moves out of range.
Grossweiner thuds his right hand into Denis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Achab Denis has been cut.

Grossweiner shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Denis eats them both and turns towards Grossweiner to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Grossweiner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Denis's waist but Denis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grossweiner off to one side.
Grossweiner finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters circle momentarily. Denis darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Grossweiner. Denis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Grossweiner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Denis misses the target.
Denis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Grossweiner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Denis scrambles back to his feet.

Achab Denis's cut is getting worse.

Denis appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Grossweiner counters with a good low kick that Denis was not able to check.
James B. Grossweiner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Denis connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Denis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Grossweiner looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James B. Grossweiner dominated that round.

That's time! Denis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
