The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shakur moves away from the strike by Samm.
Samm throws a lazy right hand but Shakur sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Samm tried to score with a low kick but Shakur checks it.
Samm slips a jab and a cross from Shakur.
A slow jab from Shakur misses its intended target.
No luck for Shakur with that takedown attempt.
Samm slips a jab and a cross from Shakur.
Shakur lands with a nice combination. Samm backs away looking to recover.

Shakur is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Samm can't fight it off and eventually Shakur manages to take the fight to the floor. Samm looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shakur is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Shakur shoots in looking for a takedown. Samm tries to sprawl out of it but Shakur keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Samm manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucifer Samm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrus Shakur.

Samm throws a looping overhand right but Shakur ducks down to avoid it.
Shakur's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Samm connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shakur scrambles back to his feet.
Samm throws a hook but Shakur blocks it.
Samm looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shakur swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Samm slaps away a takedown attempt from Shakur, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Samm moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Shakur is rocked!
Samm weaves into range and cracks Shakur right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Shakur goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Samm is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Merel (ranked 4928 p4p, 617 weight class) and Konstantin Kuznetsov (ranked 23352 p4p, 936 weight class). Merel kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Laura Tesoro - Higher. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Kuznetsov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Merel cracks Kuznetsov with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kuznetsov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Merel throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kuznetsov slips under a jab from Merel.
Kuznetsov ducks under a wild hook from Merel.
Merel avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kuznetsov, right into the meat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Merel feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kuznetsov sprawling to the canvas! Kuznetsov rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Merel finish him?!

Merel lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Kuznetsov up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Merel from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Kuznetsov's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Roger's corner calls for a 1-2. Roger obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Henry throws a jab when Roger was well out of range.
Henry uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Roger.

A little feinted left hand from Henry on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Henry shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Roger manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Roger told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Roger bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Henry's guard.


Henry isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Roger stacks Henry on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Roger!
Roger is looking to take a break and control but Henry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Henry is looking to regain half guard here but Roger keeps moving and retains side control.

Roger stands up and beckons Henry to his feet.
Henry is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

A nice side step and Roger releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

That was a close round but I would say that Marco Ferreira will probably get the nod.
