Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tanishk Soni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Why Cant we Be Friends!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soni shoots in for a double leg but Gonzalez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Soni fails with the takedown.

Soni closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Soni lands in his opponent's guard.
Gonzalez wants to sweep but no luck.
Soni passes Gonzalez's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Soni changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gonzalez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gonzalez tries to reverse the position but Soni maintains control.

Soni fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gonzalez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Soni slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Soni is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gonzalez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Soni takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Soni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

De Fran looks to land a combination. Redbeard sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Redbeard's coach down at Winds of Winter was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Redbeard's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
De Fran lands a head kick. Redbeard smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Redbeard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but De Fran moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

I would just about give that final round to Puck Heidegger.
