Dassler changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mercy loads up on a big right hand but Dassler slips the punch.
Mercy throws a body shot but no joy.
Dassler blocks a head kick by Mercy.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dassler has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Dassler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dassler drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mercy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mercy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mercy!

Dassler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mercy's guard.

Mercy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mercy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dassler on the ground.

Dassler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mercy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dassler, into his guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mercy is posturing up here but Dassler has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mercy tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mercy has to tap! Slick submission there by Dassler!
