The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shui swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shui lands a right hook to the body.
Melendez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Shui lands a jab to Melendez's midsection.
Melendez shoots in looking for a takedown. Shui tries to sprawl out of it but Melendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Shui manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Shui. Melendez shrugs it off though.

Shui dips to his left and cracks Melendez with an uppercut!

Shui fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Melendez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Oh Melendez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shui moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

After the fight, Lin Shui was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
