Lawal tries to close the distance and clinch but Fees swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Fees takes a head kick and keeps coming.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns misses with a straight left. Burns throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ulrich fails to land the takedown. Burns closes the distance and clinches up with Ulrich, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes Ulrich against the cage but Ulrich circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Javier Ulrich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Burns shoots in for a double leg but Ulrich sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Longshank pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Longshank feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Spartan's calf. A chopping leg kick lands by Longshank. Longshank throws a shot to the body.
Spartan fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Longshank on the side of the head. Longshank misses with a wild body shot. Spartan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A shot to the liver by Longshank. Beautiful body shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Longshank waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spartan. The fight stays on the outside here - Spartan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Longshank scores with a nice right hand.
