That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Super Trooper.

Cliff tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Roth was well out of range. Poor timing from Cliff.
Roth throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cliff fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Roth on the side of the head.
Roth swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cliff misses with an uppercut. Roth saw that one coming.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Cliff throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cliff swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Roth counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Roth throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cliff tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roth is in Cliff's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roth makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roth is looking for a sweep. Cliff is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cliff trying to control but Roth is working from the bottom.
Roth looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cliff is one step ahead there.
Roth utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Roth throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cliff escapes and throws Roth's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Roth has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Roth tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cliff wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cliff fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Cliff wants to stand but Roth is controlling his arm.
Roth manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roth stalling away here and it's allowed Cliff to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ziggy Cliff.
I think Roth has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Douglas lands a really nice looking cross but Dio seems unphased.
Douglas tests Dio's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Douglas has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Dio misses with a wild body shot.

Dio is looking to chop away at Douglas's legs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Douglas comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

A nice leg kick lands there from Douglas.

Douglas drops Dio with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Dio looks back up at him and smiles so Douglas waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Zack Dio has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Douglas thuds a left hand into Dio's body.
Douglas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dio. That did some damage!

Dio really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Douglas, right into the meat.
Douglas buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Douglas cracks the inside of Dio's front leg.
Dio takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Douglas explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Douglas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That kick from Douglas tenderised Dio's leg. Dio is trying to keep his angry face on.

Douglas throws a wild body kick that Dio sees coming a mile off.
Dio on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Douglas cracks Dio with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Douglas has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dio to stand back up!

Dio is rocked!
Douglas finds Dio's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Dio flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Douglas lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Dio will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dustin Douglas!
As Dustin Douglas got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Who will be the next victim for the Rasta Lion? I am unbreakable!'.
