The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Thorhalla. No joy for Slammer on that attempt.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Thorhalla.
Slammer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Thorhalla counters with a head kick. That will keep Slammer thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Slammer shoots in looking for a takedown. Thorhalla tries to sprawl out of it but Slammer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thorhalla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Thorhalla has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've been hearing good reports from Slammer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
