Event Preview: C208: McWrestler vs Kronos II

2023-07-09, Tokyo, Tokyo Bowl

TOKYO BOWL, JAPAN - C208: McWrestler vs Kronos II

In the Main Event of the evening, Combate welterweight champion Dude "Duderino" McWrestler (29-10-0) defends his championship against DMMA's welterweight champion Kronos Doomsday (18-11-0) at C208: McWrestler vs Kronos II.

"Duderino" already holds a unanimous decision win over the DMMA champion back at C184: McWrestler vs Doomsday, which saw McWrestler win the interim championship in Raate Road's absence (who has since been stripped of his title due to inactivity/retirement). Despite the Pakistan native being an elite wrestler with a blackbelt in Jiujitsu, he didn't want to take any chances on the ground against the red belt Kronos Doomsday. Doomsday has 12 submission victories on his record and "Duderino" no doubt will be looking to use his slick boxing and takedown defense to keep this fight standing again, a tactic he used to defeat Doomsday in their previous contest.

"Duderino" was a determined 8-4 MMA fighter when he joined the Heartless Team, and he has since evolved into one of top ranked welterweights in the sport as well as the face of that camp. He's a six-time Blaze Brothers organization welterweight champion, and he's coming off a narrow win over his ultimate rival Matrix Man. It was the fifth time these two had been locked in a cage together, and McWrestler won a closely contested match to capture the undisputed Combate welterweight title.

Kronos Doomsday is a former GAMMA Contenders Series champion who was riding a 2 fight winning streak under the Combate banner before suffering a loss to the hands of Dude McWrestler back at C184. He has since turned red-coat and fled across the pond to take on lesser competition at DMMA, riding the moment of a 3-fight championship win streak that has projected him up to the #2 ranked welterweight in the world by scoring a major upset against former DMMA champion Get Wet About Don (16-5-1).

"I'm ready to take all of Kronos Doomsday's hype." Duderino says with his trademark million-dollar smile, "First I'm gonna take his hype, then I'm gonna take his fans."

In the co-main event of the event the fans get to see another rematch between top welterweight contenders Carter Wright (23-10-1) and Mikey Marciano (11-4-0), as they meet for the third time.

Carter Wright is a knockout artist who already holds a knockout victory over "The Bully" in their last outing at C167. But Marciano also holds a knockout victory over Wright that happened back at BB 81, earlier in their careers. This is a trilogy between two heavy handed fighters that have no desire to go the distance.

Mikey Marciano trains out of the coveted Convicted Top Team and is riding a 3-fight win streak with 2 coming by way of knockout. His fight at C197 with Nils Norling was an absolute war that earned his first of back-to-back fight of the night bonuses.

Carter Wright is an absolute specimen possessing rare KO power contributed to unnatural extra calf-muscles. He's coming off a decision victory over welterweight contender Ethan Hawk at C205 after coming up short in his welterweight championship title fight against Matrix Man at C199.

Marciano will be seeking to avenge their last meeting, and Carter will be looking to establish dominance over "The Bully", as both fighters push towards their championship aspirations. Surely another victory will project either man towards the top of the division and closer to a showdown with whoever the welterweight champion may be.
