This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alekseev lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Cornmier is trying to break free. #R1# Spaliv shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Manuelsio counters with a nice uppercut. Spaliv shoots for a double leg takedown but Manuelsio sprawls well. He's pushed Spaliv's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A little jabbing left from Manuelsio on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Spaliv fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mika Spaliv. That's going to take a lot out of him. Manuelsio bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Spaliv's head backwards.#CUT2#It looks like Mika Spaliv has been cut. Spaliv throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Manuelsio's waist but Manuelsio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spaliv off to one side. Spaliv takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Spaliv with a lazy takedown attempt #KD2# and Manuelsio counters with a nice right hand that sends Spaliv toppling to the canvas! Shields trying to control the position from guard on top but Kozlov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kozlov tries to land a sweep but no joy. Shields must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shields is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Kozlov has control of Shields's left arm, preventing Shields from doing any damage. Shields controlling from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1##TD2# Kozlov drives through with a takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Thompson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kozlov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kozlov lands a couple of elbows. Thompson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kozlov. Kozlov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kozlov throwing strikes but missing. Kozlov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kozlov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.#CUT2#It looks like Adam Thompson has been cut. Kozlov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
