The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Berisha throwing shots but Aoki is blocking nicely. Berisha working over Aoki with some ground and pound. Aoki looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Berisha landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. #ES# Aoki makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Berisha leaves Aoki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Some wild striking there from Aoki.
Berisha closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aoki circles away. Aoki shoots in for a takedown but Berisha shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.#TD2# Berisha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Berisha with shots to the head and body - Aoki looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Berisha cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Berisha around the waist but Berisha pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Berisha is the winner by TKO! Berisha jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Afrim Berisha! In his post fight interview, Afrim Berisha started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. |

#R1# Rice clobbers Aoki with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Aoki throws a right and a left that Rice avoids nicely. Aoki shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rice sprawls well. Rice wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aoki gets slowly back to his feet. Aoki throws a nice looking combination but Rice bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.#CL2# Rice closes the distance and clinches. Rice lands an elbow inside that Aoki shrugs off. Rice is trying to drag Aoki to the mat but Aoki just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Aoki is working Rice over against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rice just misses with a elbow thrown towards Aoki's brow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aoki takes an elbow to the forehead. #TD# Aoki has picked Rice up - he's going for a ride! Aoki dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Aoki trying to control from half guard but Rice is working away. Rice tries to roll over but Aoki keeps him under control.#T1# Aoki sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rice defending well though. Aoki trying to control from Rice's half guard. Rice has other ideas though and has regained full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#SUB2# Rice throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Aoki is pressed up against the cage. Oliveira has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aoki down to the mat. Aoki avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Aoki misses with a double jab.
Aoki moves in looking to clinch but Oliveira pushes him off. Aoki misses with a looping right. Oliveira is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Oliveira shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aoki as he jumps to the side. Aoki misses with a series of wild punches.
Oliveira is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#CL2# Oliveira clinches. Oliveira is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#BC2# Oliveira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

"I don't think so" says Aoki as he avoids it easily. Aoki throws a right and a left that Oliveira avoids nicely. Oliveira steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Aoki. Oliveira takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Aoki lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Aoki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Oliveira dives in for a single leg takedown but Aoki sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aoki is defended easily by Oliveira. Aoki throws a series of punches but Oliveira moves out of range. Oliveira shoots in but no luck this time. Aoki misses with a two punch combination.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Oliveira gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Aoki counters with a nice uppercut. Aoki misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Aoki thuds his right hand into Oliveira's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
