Thomas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thomas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Thomas content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Malone tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thomas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Malone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thomas on the ground.#SUB2#
Thomas has hold of Malone's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Malone tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Thomas cranks the arm and Malone screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Malone, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
