#R1# Bernard tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Beer swivels and escapes.#TD# Beer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Bernard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bernard. Bernard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beer's guard. #REVB# Bernard is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Let's hope that Bernard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like Bernard might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Beer keeping moving, preventing Bernard from controlling successfully. #T1# Beer will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bernard sitting in guard, not really doing much. Beer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bernard is one step ahead there. Beer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Beer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.#T2# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. #SUB2# Bernard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Beer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bernard on the ground. Beer looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Beer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. No joy for Bernard on that attempt. #TD# Beer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bernard wants to sweep but no luck. Bernard looks winded! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bernard's guard. #SUB2# Bernard looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Beer is figuring out what he wants to do next. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
