The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Oneill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Oneill! #REVR# Mendes is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mendes struggling a bit here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1# Walker tries to clinch but fails miserably #TD# and Mendes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Walker won't be happy with that. Walker looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!#SUB# Mendes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Walker, who protects the arm well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Mendes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mendes in side control, just content to control the action for now. #SUB# Mendes is working to tighten his grip on Walker's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. #R1# Mendes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wilkinson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Thiago Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice takedown defense from Wilkinson. No joy for Mendes on that attempt. It seemed like Wilkinson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. We've been hearing reports that Mendes has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Mendes shoots for a double leg takedown but Wilkinson sprawls well. He's pushed Mendes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It seemed like Wilkinson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mendes misses with a takedown and Wilkinson counters with a nice uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1# Jab by Kirsipuu. Kirsipuu lands with an overhand left. Kirsipuu misses with a wild combination.
Kirsipuu throws a series of punches but Mendes avoids them all with ease. Mendes fails with a takedown attempt. Kirsipuu throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mendes on the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kirsipuu stuffs the takedown. Kirsipuu lands with a nice combination. Mendes backs away looking to recover. Kirsipuu scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kirsipuu smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.#T1# Kirsipuu goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.#ROC2#Mendes is rocked! Kirsipuu lands a really nice looking cross but Mendes seems unphased.
Oh Mendes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kirsipuu swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mendes. Kirsipuu lands with a cross. Kirsipuu drops Mendes with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Mendes! Kirsipuu dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

#R1# We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.#TD# Mendes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Omavel was covering up waiting for the punch and Mendes finishes the takedown easily into guard. Mendes showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Mendes pushing down on Omavel's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mendes moves into full mount! Omavel won't be happy about that! #SUB# Mendes looking to isolate an arm here. Omavel doesn't see it coming and as Mendes extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Mendes!

#R1##TD# Marquez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mendes quickly recovers to half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Mendes manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Marquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marquez stands and throws Mendes's legs to the side, diving into side control. Marquez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Marquez tries to stand but Mendes is controlling his head. Mendes prevents Marquez from moving into mount. Mendes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Marquez off and has taken his back! Marquez is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at California Top Team, so we'll see if he gets out of it.#SUB2# Mendes has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Marquez! Can he survive? No! He's out! Mendes gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
