We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Duffy has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Hawkins connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Duffy's hands. Duffy shoots in looking for a takedown. Hawkins tries to sprawl out of it but Duffy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hawkins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hawkins throws a big counter combination but Duffy scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Duffy fails to land the takedown. Cooper Hawkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Duffy. Hawkins dips to his left and cracks Duffy with an uppercut! We've been told by Von's head coaches at Numb Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Von moves in looking to clinch but Duffy pushes him off. Sloppy strikes from Von. Those never looked like landing. Von is looking to score with low kicks.#TD2# Duffy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Von pushes Duffy off looking to stand but Duffy dives back in and keeps control.
