Chkhetidze tries to break the clinch but Off is controlling the position. Off looking for a takedown. #TD# Chkhetidze has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Off is trying to keep an underhook but Chkhetidze manages to get the takedown into half guard. Chkhetidze seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Chkhetidze tries to stand and escape but Off is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chkhetidze takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Chkhetidze throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Chkhetidze is thwarting Off's attempts to control the position.#T1# Chkhetidze controlling the action here.#SUB2# Off looking for submissions off his back. Chkhetidze with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Off wants to control but Chkhetidze is keeping busy and won't allow it. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#T2# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Chkhetidze throws a head kick that misses. Chkhetidze leaves Off with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sergei Chkhetidze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chocker Off.#TD2# Off looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Chkhetidze! Off misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
#SUB2# Off thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Off tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Off working the ground and pound.#T3##SUB2# Off has hold of Chkhetidze's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Chkhetidze tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Off cranks the arm and Chkhetidze screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Chkhetidze, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Chocker Off! After the fight, Chocker Off was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
