Schafer avoids the elbow strike from Rivera, against the cage.
#TD# Schafer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rivera is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Schafer to the mat. Schafer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Rivera has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rivera's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Rivera postures up.
Rivera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.#SUB2# Rivera is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Schafer has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rivera is looking to defend but Schafer has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rivera! Schafer pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rivera taps out and this one is all over!

#R1# Schallach displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Schafer walks into a straight right hand from Schallach. Schafer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Schallach wants to counter the offense by Schafer and move into the clinch position. Schallach pivots, looking for a leg kick but Schafer is out of range and Schallach settles back down. Schafer shoots in and drives through. Schallach sprawls well. Schallach bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Schafer's head backwards.#CL# The fight moves into the clinch position. Schafer prevents the takedown attempt.
Schallach changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Schafer fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Schallach lands a nice shot that snaps Schafer's head back.
#TD# Schafer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schallach on his heels. He'll look to pass Schallach's guard now, I'm sure. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Schafer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schallach swivels though and keeps the full guard. #T1# Schafer sitting in guard, not really doing much. That's going to take a lot out of him. Schallach will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Schafer throws a big counter combination but Schallach scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A right-left combo lands from Schallach. Schafer shoots and misses and Schallach counters with a straight right hand. Schallach looks to land a combination but Schafer avoids it well. Schallach jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Afgahni accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. #SUB2# Schafer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schafer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Afgahni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schafer on the ground. Schafer is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Afgahni sitting in guard, not really doing much. Afgahni closes the distance and clinches up with Schafer, looking for a takedown. Afgahni pushes Schafer against the cage but Schafer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Afgahni throws a right and a left that both miss. Schafer tries to counter with a clinch but Afgahni shakes him off and moves away. Schafer has his takedown stuffed and Afgahni counters with a one-two to the body. #T2# Afgahni misses with a series of wild punches.

Schafer wants to control but Afgahni is keeping him busy. Afgahni is positioning himself to get back to half guard. #T3# Schafer tries to stand but Afgahni is controlling his head. #SUB2# Schafer has hold of Afgahni's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Afgahni tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Schafer cranks the arm and Afgahni screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Afgahni, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
