We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Watcher content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gates has locked up a guillotine! Gates's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Watcher is holding on here and Gates must be using up a lot of energy. Watcher has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gates gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

A looping hook to the body misses from Gates. Cackowski does a little dance to reset his feet. Gates takes a shot right to the bread basket. The fighters circling - Cackowski throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Cackowski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gates momentarily.
Cackowski throws the left hand but Gates avoids the punch easily. Cackowski throws out a powerful jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gates throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cackowski counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A jab from Cackowski does it's job there. Cackowski scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cackowski lands a right hook to the body.

Li with the ground and pound but Gates regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Li with the ground and pound but Gates uses the opportunity to regain guard. Li postures up in Gates's guard and throws a big left but Gates blocks it. Gates working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Li. Gates looking to hit a scissor sweep but Li is one step ahead there. Gates trying to control the position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Li's corner. There ya go! There ya go! #T1# Gates keeping moving, preventing Li from controlling successfully. Li postures up in Gates's guard and throws a big left but Gates blocks it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Li accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Li must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gates looking to hit a scissor sweep but Li is one step ahead there. Gates tries to advance to mount but Padrilo instead regains half guard. #SUB# Gates is trying for a kimura here. Padrilo looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Li has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gates is adopting a defensive guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tripp Melendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Gates. Melendez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Gates misses with a takedown attempt - Melendez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Melendez was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Gates looks for a takedown but Melendez sprawls well.
