The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Abner tries to grapple but his opponent circles #TD2# and Crusher counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Cobb moves in looking to clinch but Crusher pushes him off. And Crusher tries to counter it with a takedown but Cobb pushes his down on his head and steps out. Cobb tries to clinch there but Crusher circles away.

#R1##TD# Crusher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Crusher trying to control but Lucas is working from the bottom. Lucas being controlled here, momentarily. Lucas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Crusher. Crusher is stalling in the full guard. Crusher postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crusher trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crusher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. #T1# Lucas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Crusher wants to pass the guard but Lucas is keeping the position.#SUB# Crusher thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Crusher throwing strikes but missing. Crusher throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Crusher is working Lucas over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Crusher slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. #R1# Huerta fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Crusher on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.#CUT2#It looks like Wesley Crusher has been cut. Huerta bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Crusher's head. Huerta with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Crusher to score with a decent uppercut. Crusher takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Crusher misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crusher scores with a shot to the body.
Crusher connects with a body shot. A slow jab from Crusher misses its intended target. Crusher looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Huerta connects with a jab.#T1# Huerta with a nice cross. Nice sprawl there from Crusher as Huerta shoots in. Crusher tests Huerta's chin there with a solid looking shot. and Huerta counters with a stiff right hand. Crusher just misses with a punch to the body.
Huerta has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Crusher ducks under a wild hook from Huerta. Crusher drops down looking for a counter takedown but Huerta sprawls and moves away. Crusher misses with a hook
and Huerta cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Crusher throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Huerta throws a hook to the side of Crusher's head but Crusher sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Crusher works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Huerta has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Huerta connects with a jab.#T2# Huerta clobbers Crusher with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. This has been an exciting period of action! Crusher thows a left - swing and a miss! Crusher with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Huerta to score with a decent uppercut. Crusher ducks right into an uppercut from Huerta. Huerta stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Huerta is trying hard to land a takedown here. Crusher sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Wesley Crusher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Huerta. The fighters circling - Crusher throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Crusher swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Huerta might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Huerta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Crusher pinned against the cage. Crusher gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Crusher feinted with a counter takedown. Crusher connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Huerta! He's out on his feet! Crusher rushes in and drops Huerta with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Wesley Crusher! In his post fight interview, Wesley Crusher started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. |

Crusher scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cruz to see if he's OK. Sloppy strikes there by Crusher. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Crusher connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cruz some visible discomfort.
#ROC2#Cruz is rocked! The crowd goes nuts as Crusher knocks Cruz out cold with a massive hammerfist! Crusher Jumps to his feet and climbs on top of the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

After the fight, Wesley Crusher was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crusher working some strikes from top position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Crusher's corner. There ya go! He's out! Crusher jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
