#R1# Ramsey throws a head kick that misses. Ekberg is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Ramsey with a body shot. Ramsey lands a slapping body shot.
Ramsey connects with a solid leg kick. Ekberg looks for a takedown but Ramsey sprawls well. Ramsey throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ekberg has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A nice leg kick from Ramsey, right into the meat of the thigh.

Griffin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Griffin wants it to stay on the feet. Griffin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ekberg under the eye. Griffin connects with a right hand. Ekberg shakes it off. Ekberg has a takedown stuffed. Matthew Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lars Gunnar Ekberg. Griffin lands a front kick. Griffin with a hook. Griffin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Ekberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Mathis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ekberg is pushing down on Mathis's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mathis is fighting to maintain full guard but Ekberg has managed to sneak the leg through. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ekberg is trying to control the action in half guard but Mathis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Ekberg is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mathis sees it coming and defends easily. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ekberg lands a nice short elbow. Mathis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
