Horrible takedown attempt by Thrax or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter, which made it look bad.
Carter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carter wants it to stay on the feet.
Thrax slaps away a takedown attempt from Carter, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ant Thrax. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thrax shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Thrax keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ant Thrax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thrax shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Thrax's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mabab closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Carter tries to kick Mabab off but Mabab keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mabab wants to take a breather but Carter is having none of it.

Mabab seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Oh Carter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mabab loads up on a big left hand. Carter felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Mabab looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Carter can't hide his disappointment, as Mabab celebrates the victory.
