De Smet keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Horrible takedown attempt by Penttinen or perhaps it was just good defense by De Smet, which made it look bad.
Penttinen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

De Smet is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Penttinen flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Penttinen is out cold! De Smet holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

The ground and pound from Penttinen seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Smith throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A nice inside leg kick there by Smith. That's going to slow Penttinen down.
Penttinen darts in looking for a takedown but Smith gets double underhooks and turns Penttinen into the cage.
Erkki Penttinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penttinen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Smith punishes Penttinen's body with a nice straight punch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Penttinen tries to get into range but Smith steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Penttinen! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Smith scores the big KO victory!
