Olic ducks under a wild hook from Frank.
Olic takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Frank looks to throw the jab but Olic is out of range.
Frank bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Olic's head.#CUT#It looks like Mislav Olic has been cut.
Frank jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Olic misses with a hook to the body
and Frank connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Frank works the jab nicely.#ROC#Olic is rocked!
Olic glances at the clock... BAM! Frank nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Olic crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Olic is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Olic tries to bum rush Taiwa with a series of wild strikes but Taiwa uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Taiwa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Olic defends it well.#TD2#
Taiwa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Olic did well to prevent Taiwa getting side control.
Taiwa content to control rather than advance.
Taiwa moves nicely into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here as Taiwa stalls from top position.
Let's hope that Taiwa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Taiwa.

Taiwa has hold of Olic's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Olic tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Taiwa cranks the arm and Olic screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Olic, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Baofu Taiwa!
Baofu Taiwa opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see. |
