Kenjiro takes a swing at Masaru's ribcage but misses.
Kenjiro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Masaru has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kenjiro.
Masaru stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kenjiro.
Kenjiro shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. #CL#
Kenjiro pushes Masaru up against the cage in a clinch.
Masaru is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kenjiro gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kenjiro connects with a nasty looking knee right to Masaru's face.
Kenjiro goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Kenjiro.
Kenjiro keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Masaru's efforts to push away.
Kenjiro connects with a knee to the head.
Kenjiro gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. #ROC#
Masaru is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Masaru dodges an elbow strike from Kenjiro.
Masaru is still on wobbly legs! Can Kenjiro finish him?
Kenjiro working the clinch nicely. Masaru is working for position but Kenjiro cracks him with a big knee to the head! Masaru crumples up against the cage and Kenjiro lands two more shots before the ref can save Masaru! This one is all over!

Reis throws a low kick but Masaru avoids it.
A big left from Reis misses.
And Masaru tries to counter it with a takedown but Reis pushes his down on his head and steps out.#TD2#
Masaru shoots in and bounces Reis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.#SUB2#
Masaru thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reis is looking to stand up but Masaru isn't so interested in that idea.
Reis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reis tries to get out of the position.

Masaru isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Reis stacks Masaru on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Reis!

Masaru is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Reis has his hands clasped together but Masaru extends and breaks Reis's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Masaru.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hino Masaru!
Hino Masaru spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.

Masaru goes for a takedown attempt but Wells pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance. #CL#

Wells passes Masaru's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wells is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Masaru manages to get to full guard.

Wells got a little sloppy there for a moment and Masaru has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wells has managed to get both his arms back between Masaru's legs - danger averted.
Wells has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Masaru is proving hard to escape from. #SUB2#
Wells content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Masaru has locked up a guillotine! Masaru's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wells is holding on here and Masaru must be using up a lot of energy. Wells has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Masaru gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
