Murphy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No joy there for Stolgichenko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Murphy digs a good body shot into Stolgichenko's ribs.
Shamus Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stolgichenko steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Murphy. That one must have hurt.
Murphy listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Murphy throws a sloppy head kick and Stolgichenko moves out of range easily.
Murphy drops his hands momentarily and Stolgichenko takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Murphy lands with an uppercut that bounces Stolgichenko off the cage and back into range.
Stolgichenko throws a body punch but Murphy moves out of range.
Stolgichenko's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Stolgichenko's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Murphy is stalking Stolgichenko. Stolgichenko circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Murphy, and it's lights out! Stolgichenko really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

A nice inside leg kick there by Pettis. That's going to slow Stolgichenko down.
Pettis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stolgichenko.
Stolgichenko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pettis throws out a counter right but Stolgichenko avoids it with no problem.
Pettis lands a nice hook to Stolgichenko's body. Stolgichenko takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Some wild striking there from Stolgichenko.
Pettis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stolgichenko.
Stolgichenko wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Pettis fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Pettis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stolgichenko manages to avoid it.

Pettis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pettis stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Michael Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stolgichenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pettis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Oh Stolgichenko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stolgichenko glances at the clock... BAM! Pettis nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Stolgichenko crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Stolgichenko is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Michael Pettis was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

Stolgichenko throws a body punch but Stoner moves out of range.
Stolgichenko misses with a left hand #TD2#
and Stoner counters with a takedown into side control.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Stoner working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stoner lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Stoner lands some shots froms side control.
Stoner works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Stolgichenko takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.#ROC2#

Stoner in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Stolgichenko looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Stoner turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Stoner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stolgichenko.
And Stoner tries to counter it with a takedown but Stolgichenko pushes his down on his head and steps out.#TD2#
Stoner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Stolgichenko!

Stolgichenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stoner on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
