Mendes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mendes tries to pass to full mount but Jerry defends it.
Jerry is trying to stand back up but Mendes is controlling him
Jerry wants to control but Mendes is keeping busy.
Jerry has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Mendes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendes not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jerry keeps working.
Jerry tries to kick Mendes off but Mendes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.#T1#

Jerry lands a left and a right that send Mendes crashing to the mat, dazed. Jerry thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#ROC#

Jerry connects with a nice cross there... Mendes is looking wobbly and Jerry recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Mendes to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Jerry jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Mendes jumps into guard, dragging Emelianenko to the mat.
Emelianenko throwing strikes but missing.
Emelianenko working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mendes's head.
Mendes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emelianenko is in close to Mendes's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mendes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emelianenko on the ground.
Emelianenko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mendes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Emelianenko is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Emelianenko gets to his feet and stands over Mendes, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Mendes felt that one! Emelianenko unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Mendes from any more punishment!
